Lesson 11 of 11 5 min read
Trading journal and performance review
Recording trades and reading your statistics to keep improving.
What to record
Date, pair, direction, entry, stop, target, size, result, the reason for the trade, a chart screenshot and how you felt.
Key statistics
Win rate, average win vs average loss, risk-to-reward, profit factor (gross profit ÷ gross loss) and maximum drawdown.
Turning data into improvement
Look for patterns: which setups, sessions or pairs perform best, and which mistakes repeat. Cut what doesn't work, do more of what does.
Key takeaways
- Journal every trade.
- Know your numbers.
- Improve from evidence.
